Overview

The Professional Trainer will play an integral role in development and career growth of Cajun’s professional-level employees.  This position will be responsible for the design, development, coordination, and delivery of professional training and development programs that support performance, leadership development, and career progression. The Professional Trainer will oversee key training systems and processes, including training administration, completion tracking, learning content development, and training grant requirements. This position will partner with leaders, subject matter experts, and external training providers to ensure Cajun’s professional training programs are relevant, effective, and aligned with the organization’s needs.  

 

 

Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Create an exceptional employee experience through engaging, relevant, and effective professional development opportunities.
  • Lead the ongoing development, coordination, and delivery of professional training programs, including:
    • New Hire Orientation and facility tour
    • Software and systems training
    • Leadership development
    • Professional skills training
    • Other training initiatives based on organizational and employee development needs
  • Lead the development, coordination, and delivery of professional training programs, including designing and maintaining engaging learning content, presentations, and e-learning courses.
  • Facilitate instructor-led and virtual training sessions for professional-level employees.
  • Implement and manage Cajun’s professional training software, including training schedules, enrollment, waitlists, attendance, completion tracking, required training assignments, and participant communications.
  • Maintain accurate training records and reporting and ensure required training is properly assigned, completed, and documented.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve content, delivery, and employee engagement.
  • Partner with leaders, subject matter experts, and external training providers to identify training needs and develop and deliver effective learning solutions.
  • Manage the Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) training grant, including coordinating with the primary training provider, maintaining grant requirements throughout the grant lifecycle, and supporting the annual preparation and submission of the grant.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of Cajun’s professional learning curriculum and development resources.

 

Secondary:

  • Support New Employee Onboarding, including:
    • Online onboarding and new hire paperwork
    • Office access and setup, including coordination of IT and physical office needs
    • Cajun Qualified Driver requirements, as applicable
    • Applicable site-specific training and cultural training
    • Cajun’s Accelerated Onboarding for Managers, as applicable
  • Support Cajun professional development programs, including but not limited to:
    • Mentoring Program
    • Cajun Young Professionals (YP) Program
    • Intern Program
    • Employee Growth Program (EGP)
    • Leadership Development
    • Performance Management
  • Provide additional support to the Human Resources team as needed.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Training & Development, Learning & Development, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and facilitating professional training programs.
  • Experience developing training content, including presentations, e-learning, or other learning materials preferred.
  • Experience with the Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) training grant preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and facilitate learning with diverse audiences.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify development needs and translate them into effective learning solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage training records and schedules.
  • Self-directed and proactive, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Tech savvy with the ability to quickly learn custom software and technology programs.

  

Physical:  While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:

 

  • Remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods during office work and meetings.
  • Operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information in person, electronically, and during virtual or telephone meetings.

 

Mental:  While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:

 

  • Direct, collaborate with, and communicate with executives, clients, and project teams. 
  • Interpret and apply company policies, safety protocols, and written instructions. 
  • Perform mathematical calculations, analyze business data, and review project estimates.
  • Maintain accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail while managing competing priorities in an active office environment with frequent interruptions. 
  • Process, retain, and manage complex project details, contractual requirements, and client data.
